Wearable Media @ World Maker Faire 2017

On September 23rd, Wearable Media brought thoughts, projects and passion to World Maker Faire 2017. We showcased our latest interactive fashion product prototypes to makers, and received great feedbacks. Our co-founder Jingwen Zhu also gave a presentation about expressive textiles,

On Sept. 19th, our CEO, Yuchen Zhang joined a panel discussion titled This is Not a Sweater about smart garments and functional fabrics at Pratt Institute's accelerator program, Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator (BF+DA). The panel discussion was hosted by BF+DA’s executive director Deb Johnson. Olivia Burca, garment engineer at Wearable Experiments and Chris Kasabach, a pioneer in the field of wearable computing and connected healthcare also joined the conversation. This was an event on thinking and creating smart garments, functional fabrics, and e-textiles as part of New York Textile Month. During the discussion, the panelists had a great conversation about the challenges and potentials in wearable technology and smart textiles.

Sourcing Journal quoted, “The navigation of the fashion world and the technology world is so different, it’s almost chaotic,” said Yuchen
Zhang, Wearable Media co-founder. “We want to bridge this gap and we are working on a product system to help designers incorporate technology easily into their garments.”

Wearable Media in Fashioneers Accelerator!

Ghost in the Shell Launch Party Event
 

Wearable Media had the opportunity to showcase our project Ceres, and Bury, for the Ghost in the Shell movie release event, Prototype, which was hosted by Paramount Pictures, Yahoo and Tumblr during Paris Fashion Week on March 7th. A video of our prototypes were screened during the event, which also included live showcases of tech infused fashion pieces by Chromat, Wise Wear, Cute Circuit to name a few, as well as a spectacular performance by the incredible Bionic Pop Star, Viktoria Modesta. The event was well-curated, and the audience had a chance to intimately engage with current designs in fashion tech industry, as well as view prototypes and concepts that are forging pathways in the future of fashion and accessory design.

Wearable Media @ SXSW 2017! Co-Founder Yuchen Zhang co-curated Design & Function exhibition with Parsons Fashion & Technology in Austin. 

The exhibition was a part of an exclusive fashion technology event hosted by TheCurrent. In this beautiful modern mansion, TheCurrent invited more than 400 fashion and tech industry experts from Nike, Cornell, Saint Laurent, Lufthansa and Rebecca Minkoff. Our co-founder and CEO, Yuchen Zhang, had the pleasure to bring our studio’s work to showcase in this event.
